Re-Turn Vol.006 — A Century-Long Journey
Issuing Unit: Chiayi Art Museum · Production: Cultime
Design Team: Idealform Co.
Layout Design: Meng-Chieh Li, Chi-Lun Wen, Tsai-Lin Chang
The cover of this issue attempts to use Qing-Min Fang’s “Temple Festival Procession in front of the New High Museum of Photography” as a reference text in terms of graphic development. By simulating a virtual interface in the form of a dotted cloud, it connects to the issues discussed in the theme, such as the combing of historical archives and the question of how to construct one's own art history, which has become a recurring topic in contemporary art curation. Through the mesh of the virtual interface, defocusing and refocusing, and the repositioning of latitude and longitude lines, we can imagine how the artworks might generate new reading experiences and meanings in the light of contemporary technology for the next era.
Re-Turn Vol.007 — Expanded Dialogues
Issuing Unit: Chiayi Art Museum · Production: Cultime
Design Team: Idealform Co.
Layout Design: Meng-Chieh Li, Chi-Lun Wen, Tsai-Lin Chang, Yu-An Tsai
The cover of this issue response to the current exhibition Displaced Gaze (curated by Jia-Xuan Yang). This exhibition focuses on inheritance and dialogue as its curatorial perspectives, inviting six artists who have deep cultural ties to Chiayi to participate in a dialogic exhibition on three floors of the Chiayi Museum of Art, in groups of two or more. Visually, Jin-Xiu Li's Family II is used as a reference text. The shadow-like, floating unidentified objects at the front edge of the painting are re-matched with the silver-foiled geometric lines and surfaces, responding to the continuous dialogical state of the exhibition through the intertwined relationship between the front and the back of the painting.
